Latest sheet metal updates

Sorry haven't posted in a while. Have gotten a lot done. All the major sheet metal is repaired. All the quarters, wheel houses, patches are in the main body of the car...Finally.
Got a lot of grinding to do over the winter. LOL.
Got a lot of parts painted ready to be able to put the front suspension on...
Goals for the winter, make subframe connectors, install front suspension, grind welds, and strip all the paint off, patch one door, and not sure what else.

What up everyone?

Sorry been a while since posted any updates. A lot has been going on. Sucks that life gets in the way of projects....LOL

Well the left side is all welded up. None of the welds are ground down yet but it's in..Was very happy the way it turned out.

As you can see the right side is all torn out and was very happy to find out only needed to patch 3 areas before I need to put in all the other metal..The left side had many more patches to make before putting in all the major panels.

So far so good, Got a buch of parts delivered, all news seals for the axle, my rear springs, shocks, etc. If I can get the right side in make up my subframe connectors, hopefully before it gets cold can get the axle painted, spindles painted. So over the winter can get it on wheels again.

Later...homies..

Well finally got all the panels to fit nice. Welded in the LH trunk panel and outer wheel house. Now need to grind them all down before put in the quarter panel.
Going on vacation this weekend, and I have to go out of town the week after that. So probably won't get much done for a few weeks.

Will post more as I move along.

A little more progress

Was hoping to be a little further along, had to make a trip to Canada eh, and Texas so haven't had much time the last few weeks to work on it. Finally today was able to get the outer wheel house fitted to the quarter panel and trunk panel. Forign stampings are such a blast...LOL. Started drilling so can try one more fitting, then weldable primer and stuff them in. Maybe this weekend I can get them tacked in.

Painting misc parts and a little work done 6.19.2010

Finally started fitting more sheet metal..It's a long way away. I get all day tomorrow (Fathers day) to work on the car. Hopfully I can get the trunk piece tacked in and the outer wheel house tacked in place and the full qtr panel fitted to go in. Gonna be a long day of trial and error.

Found this little hidden gen today. Was able to weld it up..now how am I gonna get it ground down...dremel might actually come in handy.

Love the vinegar...parts come out looking pretty good after soaking for a long time. Painted up nicely.

Messed up the order so here are misc travel and repair pics.

Here is where I am currenty at..as of 6.13.2010

Well I got the new rear lower panel all welded up on the tail lamp panel. Also got the new left rear rail put in all welded up. Only on the left side. kept the right intact to make sure I do it right. Getting ready to fit the trunk panel and outer wheel house. Need to do a little quarter panel fitting first and clamp it in place so I can fit the wheel house to the quarter than the trunk panel to the wheel house...fun and games but making progress.

On to the heavy work...qrt panels, rear frame rails, outer wheel houses (before shots)

Well by looking at the pics you can see where I am at. A big jigsaw puzzle. Cam across a guy selling quarter panels on craigslist over the winter. So I called him up and visited him during one horrible snowstorm, got a left and right full quarter panels for 100 bucks the the pair. 2 rust free front fenders 50 for the pair, a pair of doors for 50, and a bunch of misc bumper brackets etc for 50 and oh yea a free mustang donor car (a 66) parted it out and make 800 bucks off that. Score.

Floor pan repair (after)

Thought I had more pics than this...guess not. Anyway I was happy how it all turned out.

Floor pan repair (after torn out)

Here are a few pics of the pans after they were torn out.

On to the floor pans...oh goody (before pics)

Well the floor pans were bad in the front and back, only good area was below the seat..LOL

Put in new floor length pans left and right and had to replace the right front frame rail extension. A lot easier than I thought.
